This preserve is located in Thompson just south of Grosvenordale and above the Mechanicsville section. There is no access and there are no trails. The nearest roads are Route 12 to the east and West Thompson Road to the south. The preserve is bounded by the Providence and Worcester Rail Road on one side and by the French River on the other with one small piece of privately held landlocked land abutting to the northeast. There is undeveloped land on the other side of the rail road to the west and an Industrial park is being created to the northwest and this is currently being mined. Nearby there are over one thousand acres of land around West Thompson dam and the Quinebaug River flood plain is protected from development by the Army Corps of engineers.
